Wilcox lifts Patriots by Searsport

BANGOR – Brandon Wilcox scored on a Zach Kutz assist with 48 seconds left in the second overtime to lift the Bangor Christian Patriots to a 3-2 schoolboy soccer victory over the Searsport Vikings Monday.

Wilcox and Kutz each added a first-half goal for 2-3 Bangor Christian while Sam McLeod stopped 10 of 14 shots.

Evan Kingsbury and Kyle Ritchie scored first-half goals for 0-6 Searsport. Travis Anderson had an assist as Dan Peach made 21 saves on 36 shots.

Mount View 4, Oak Hill 1

At Thorndike, Ethan Jean scored a goal and teamed up with Sam Ray to save 13 out of 18 Oak Hill shots as Mount View prevailed.

Eben Estell, Jake Mehuren and Alex Pierel netted a goal apiece for the 3-1-2 Mustangs.

John Perron scored for the 1-4-1 Raiders of Wales. Tom Edgecomb had 18 saves on 27 shots.

JV: Oak Hill 3-2

Lee 2, Schenck 1

At East Millinocket, Yong-Han Gang scored both goals including the game-winner with four minutes left in the second half to power Lee to the win.

Peter Pickering provided both assists for the 4-0-1 Pandas. Jon Connick stopped 18 of 21 shots.

Kerry Thompson scored an unassisted goal in the second half for the 2-3 Wolverines. Lanny Thompson made 24 saves on 28 shots.

Piscataquis 4, Dexter 3

At Guilford, Roy Burdin’s goal with 16 minutes left in regulation helped the Pirates complete a rally and avenge a loss to the Tigers last week.

Mike Wharff assisted on Burdin’s game-winner. Both Wharff and Burdin had goals earlier in the game as PCHS came back from a 3-0 deficit. Brandon London added a goal for the 5-1-1 Pirates and Wharff finished with two assists. John Billstone provided an assist and Ryan Martell turned away 10 of 14 shots.

Dan Beatham scored two first-half goals for 6-1 Dexter. Ethan Woodman added a goal and Rick Stewart made the assist. Chris Eastman stopped 14 of 20 shots.

Penobscot Valley 6, Penquis 0

At Milo, Brandon Bainio had two goals and one assist as the Howlers of Howland earned their first win.

Ryan Ware had a goal and an assist for 1-2-2 Penobscot Valley while Cory Soucy, Ethan Babireau and Matt Therieault netted a goal apiece. Brian Harris had eight saves on 10 shots.

Brian Zwicker and Richie Russell combined for 18 saves on 32 shots for the 0-7 Patriots.

Orono 4, Central 1

At Orono, Chris McConnon scored two goals and assisted another to push Orono past Central of Corinth.

Ian Staples and Mike Amato each added a goal for the 5-1 Red Riots. Dan Ohno and Mike Perna both had an assist. Nate Peterson turned away four of five shots.

Danny Kane scored on a Scott Kelley assist in the first half for the 2-2-2 Red Devils. Charles Haney made five saves on 11 shots.

JV: Orono 5-3

Medomak Valley 1, Camden Hills 0

At Waldoboro, Josh Chamberlain scored an unassisted goal 25:15 into the first half to lead Medomak Valley to victory.

Miles Felch stopped 10 of 14 shots for the 2-4 Panthers.

Adam Ithomits made six saves on eight shots for 4-2 Camden Hills of Rockport.

Washington Acad. 2, Woodland 1

At East Machias, Joey Hunter scored with 5:39 left in the first half on a corner kick to lift the Raiders to victory.

Young Gi added a goal with 26:57 left in the second half for 5-1 Washington Academy. Josiah Jackson stopped 20 of 22 shots.

Chad James scored 20 seconds after the Gi goal for the 3-2 Dragons. Todd Townsend turned away 25 of 34 shots.

Field hockey

Stearns 4, Piscataquis 2

At Guilford, Amy Collinsworth knocked in two goals as the Minutemen tipped the Pirates in a meeting of undefeated teams.

Felicia Achorn and Katie Mills each scored a goal for 7-0 Stearns of Millinocket. Deanna Michaud stopped 13 of 16 shots.

Kelsey Martel tallied both goals for 6-1 Piscataquis while Ashley Davis and Hattie Agnew each provided an assist. Jessica Pratt made eight saves on 12 shots.

JV: Piscataquis 3-1

John Bapst 2, Bangor 1 (OT)

At Bangor, Christina Andrle’s game-winning goal with four seconds left in overtime powered the Crusaders past the Rams.

Meagan Tilton assisted on Andrle’s winner while Lauren Fish scored a first-half goal on a Lauren Daigle assist for 4-2 John Bapst. Hillary Laferriere and Megan Smith combined to save 23 of 24 shots.

Jennie Foley scored on a Alyssa Pelkey assist in the first half for 1-7 Bangor. Mikaela Marshall-Holmes stopped two of six shots.

JV: Bangor 1-0

Old Town 3, Nokomis 2

At Old Town, Sarah Wilcox netted two goals to lead Old Town to its first win.

Cally Randall added a goal while Katie Trembley and Jenna King assists for the 1-4-1 Coyotes. Heather Nye had six saves on eight shots.

Sabrina Vaillancourt had a goal plus an assist for 3-4 Nokomis of Newport while Alison Berg had a goal and Jade Peterson an assist. Beth Flanders stopped seven out of 10 shots.

JV: Nokomis 4-0

Girls soccer

Camden Hills 2, Medomak 1

At Rockport, Kayla Gushee logged an unassisted goal with 30 seconds left in overtime to propel the Windjammers past the Panthers of Waldoboro.

Kayla Carleton scored off a pass from MacKayla Stone for 2-4 Camden Hills. Laura Gertner had three saves on four shots.

Anna Lufkin had an unassisted goal for 3-2-1 Medomak. Erin Cornforth saved 11 out of 13 shots.
