News in brief BANGOR: GRANTS AWARDED TO FIGHT DOMESTIC VIOLENCE

The U.S. Department of Justice, Office of Violence Against Women has awarded three grants totaling $616,082 to three Maine service providers: the Maine Coalition to End Domestic Violence in Bangor; Pine Tree Legal Assistance in Portland; and the Maine Coalition Against Sexual Assault in Augusta. The providers in Bangor and Augusta each received $83,041 to fund training, direct financial support and technical assistance to rape crisis centers and women’s shelters statewide.
