Nadeau sparks undefeated SAHS to win Warriors shut out Katahdin

DYER BROOK – Rochelle Nadeau scored on a Kaylea Collier assist with 11 minutes left in the second half to lift undefeated Southern Aroostook to its seventh victory, 1-0 over Katahdin in high school girls soccer action Friday.

Erin Caswell turned away nine of 10 shots for the 7-0 Warriors.

Kayla Stevens made six saves on 15 shots for 2-5-1 Katahdin of Stacyville.

Van Buren 4, Fort Fairfield 0

At Fort Fairfield, Megan Lajoie had a hat trick with three goals to push Van Buren past Fort Fairfield.

Marcie LaPlante scored for 9-1 Van Buren. Mindy LaPointe and Karie Ouellette each had an assist. Trisha Gagnon stopped 10 of 11 shots.

Kellie Osgood made 14 saves on 23 shots for 6-5 Fort Fairfield.

Madawaska 5, LCS/MSSM 0

At Madawaska Thursday, Ashley D. Cyr had two goals and one assist and Jamie Nadeau two goals to lead Madawaska past Limestone Community School/Maine School and Science and Math.

Kylie Pelletier added a goal and Kaylie Cyr an assist for the Owls. Steph Nadeau had eight saves on nine shots.

Melanie Allen made 16 saves on 22 shots for the Eagles.

Medomak 3, Mount View 2 (OT)

At Waldoboro, Emily Brogden scored on a penalty kick four minutes into overtime to push Medomak Valley past Mount View of Thorndike.

Stephanie Lee and Samantha Olson added second half goals for the 3-1-1 Panthers. Missy Kent and Angie Abbott each had an assist as Alison Cornforth stopped 13 of 20 shots.

Caitlin Kupfernen and Alexis Bennet scored first-half goals for 2-3 Mount View. Miranda Grotton made six saves on 18 shots.

MCI 1, Lincoln Acad. 1 (2OT)

At Pittsfield, Emily Fowle scored with 36 minutes left in the first half on a Tiffany McLaggan assist for Maine Central Institute to tie the game at 1-1 and force double overtime.

Bianca Asaro made eight saves on nine shots for 2-1-2 MCI.

Emily Burnett scored in the first minute of the game for 2-2-1 Lincoln Academy of Newcastle. Alex Donald stopped 15 of 23 shots.

Calais 2, Woodland 1

At Calais, Kayla Cobb scored both Calais goals including the game-winner 9:32 into the second half to lead the Blue Devils past Woodland.

Stephanie Perry stopped 11 of 13 shots for 4-0-1 Calais.

Jessica Olson scored on a Rachel Graybill assist with 26 minutes left in the first half for 1-5 Woodland. Cindy Bergin made 10 saves on 15 shots.

Bucksport 3, Searsport 0

At Searsport, Cassandra Gourley scored two goals to lead Bucksport past Searsport.

Lindsey Gordon scored a goal and assisted another for the 4-1-1 Golden Bucks. Terren Hall had an assist as Katie Hurd made four saves on seven shots.

Amanda Chaney and Megan Higgins combined to stop 12 of 20 shots for 2-3 Searsport.

Foxcroft 0, Piscataquis 0 (2OT)

At Guilford, Sarah Whittemore stopped 12 of 13 shots to preserve a double-overtime tie for Foxcroft Academy.

Jill Martell turned away 18 of 19 shots for 1-0-3 Piscataquis.

Orono 5, Hermon 2

At Orono, Meghan Curtis and Lauren Wheeler both scored two goals to help push Orono past Hermon.

Kate Kelley added a goal for 3-2-1 Orono. Heather Woodbrey, Wesley Osterhout, and Emily Balaban-Garber each had an assist. Brittney Pinkham stopped eight of 10 shots.

Chelsea Pottle scored both goals for 0-6-1 Hermon. Ashley Kelley and Danielle Ross combined to make 13 saves on 20 shots.

Boys soccer

Katahdin 3, So. Aroostook 1

At Dyer Brook, Marshall Davis scored two goals to lead Katahdin of Stacyville to victory.

Andy Kay added a goal for the 5-1 Cougars and Ethan Qualey had an assist. Matt Tarr made 12 saves on 13 shots.

Tyler Robinson scored on a corner kick in the second half for 5-3 Southern Aroostook. Colby Clark stopped 18 of 21 shots.

Van Buren 5, Fort Fairfield 0

At Fort Fairfield, Alex Martin tallied two goals as Van Buren cruised past Fort Fairfield.

Ben Doucette and Pat Breuben each notched a goal for the Crusaders, who also scored on an own goal by Fort Fairfield. Andrew Taylor saved all three shots he faced.

Jordan Burho made 24 saves on 29 shots for the Tigers.

Schenck 1, Houlton 0 (OT)

At East Millinocket, Joe Ruitto scored on a Steve Deveau assist with 20 seconds left in overtime to lead Schenck past Houlton.

Lanny Thompson stopped 22 of 24 shots for the 2-2 Wolverines.

Eben Thompson made 16 saves on 18 shots for the 4-6 Shiretowners.

Shead 3, Machias 0

At Machias, Caleb Ricker, Tommy Pottle, and Chris Newman scored first-half goals as the Tigers of Eastport earned the win.

Nick Vinson earned the shutout in goal by stopping seven of eight shots for 1-3 Shead.

Michael Jenkins stopped 11 or 14 shots for 2-3 Machias.

Mount View 2, Medomak 1

At Thorndike, Ethan Jean scored the eventual game-winning goal 25:45 into the second half to lead Mount View past Medomak Valley.

Alex Pierel scored on a Derek Keller assist for the 2-1-2 Mustangs. Sam Ray and Ross Caron combined to make 13 saves on 17 shots.

Josh Chamberlain scored for the 1-4 Panthers of Waldoboro. Miles Felch make 15 saves, including two on penalty kicks, on 21 shots.

Bangor 2, Nokomis 0

At Newport, Tony Martinez scored an unassisted goal five minutes into the first half to help push Bangor to victory.

Dan Taft added an unassisted goal with eight minutes left in the second half for the Rams. Aaron Taft and Eric Mills combined to stop four of seven shots.

Wayne May made 13 saves on 20 shots for Nokomis.

Dexter 2, Nokomis 1

At Newport, Claire Wyman scored on a Michelle Chapman assist with 28:27 left in the first half to help push Dexter past Nokomis.

Jess Mason added a goal with 22:24 left in the first on a Denise Robinson assist for 3-1-1 Dexter. Katie Poirier stopped three of four shots.

Sabrina Vaillancourt scored on an Alison Berg assist with 1:20 left in the first half for 2-3 Nokomis. Jackie Frye and Beth Flanders combined to save eight of 10 shots.

John Bapst 2, Old Town 0

At Old Town, Lauren Fish scored on a Caroline Openshaw assist in the first half to lead John Bapst of Bangor to victory.

Alison Krause added a second half goal on an assist from Christina Andrle for the 3-2 Crusaders. Hillary Laferriere blocked all 13 shots.

Heather Nye stopped 10 of 12 shots for 0-5 Old Town.

Dexter 33, Stearns 6

At Millinocket, Steve Robinson rush for two touchdowns and completed a 24-yard pass to Dantai Keith for another to lead Dexter past Stearns.

Josh Cousins rushed 16 times for 83 yards and returned a 90-yard interception for touchdown in the fourth quarter for the Tigers. Ben Spizuoco rushed nine yards for a touchdown in the first quarter.

Luke Stahl caught a 35-yard pass from Jordan Burleigh in the third quarter for Stearns.

Cory Barnett had 18 tackles for the Minutemen and Caleb Wallace added 13 tackles.
