Mitchell, Keene help lift Dexter past Central 2-1

DEXTER – Alexis Mitchell scored on an assist from Kylie Keene with 18:14 left in the game to lift the Dexter Tigers by the Central Red Devils 2-1 in schoolgirl soccer action Wednesday.

Keene had given Dexter a 1-0 lead with a goal on a direct kick with 8:15 left in the first half, but Central of Corinth’s Marissa Haney tied the match less than three minutes later.

Ashley Richardson made 12 saves on 16 shots for 2-3-1 Dexter. Jessica Daniel made eight saves on 12 shots for 1-3 Central.

Lee 5, Penobscot Valley 3

At Howland, Amanda Gifford scored three second-half goals to lead Lee Academy to victory.

Aarika Ritchie and Kimmy Thurlow added goals for the 3-1 Pandas. Dana Houghton had an assist and Karin Bird stopped 13 of 23 shots.

Lindsay Drost, Kacey Plourde, and Michelle Bowers each scored a goal for 3-1 Penobscot Valley. Molly Thompson provided an assist and Julie Theriault made 15 saves on 24 shots.

Bangor 4, Old Town 0

At Old Town, Erin MacDermott and Kate Dana each scored two goals for the unbeaten Rams.

One of MacDermott’s goals came directly off a corner kick, while one of Dana’s goals came on a penalty kick.

Emily Heath added an assist for Bangor.

Tawnya Godinez made two saves on three shots for 5-0 Bangor. Nicole Guay and Lauren LeBreton combined to make 20 saves on 39 shots for 0-5 Old Town.

JV: Bangor 8-0

John Bapst 2, Hermon 0

At Hermon, Katie Lambert scored two second-half goals to push John Bapst of Bangor past Hermon.

Maggie Kane provided an assist for 1-1-1 John Bapst. Caroline Cassling, and Amber Estes combined to stop seven of 10 shots.

Ashley Kelley made 15 saves on 17 shots for 0-5-1 Hermon.

JV: John Bapst 2-0

Searsport 1, Orono 0

At Searsport, Tianna Faunce scored on an assist from Abby Landmesser midway through the first half to lead the Vikings to victory.

Landmesser sent Faunce in with a pass on the left wing, and Landmesser scored with a shot inside the far goalpost.

Amanda Chaney made six saves on 12 shots for 2-2 Searsport, while Brittany Pinkham made 15 saves on 23 shots for 2-2-1 Orono.

Calais 0, Narraguagus 0 (2OT)

At Harrington, Steph Perry turned away seven of 12 shots to preserve the double-overtime tie for 3-0-1 Calais.

Sam Baker made eight saves on 10 shots for 0-1-2 Narraguagus.

Ellsworth 8, MDI 0

At Ellsworth, Maggie Harding scored two goals and assisted two others to lead Ellsworth to the win.

Jen Richter had two goals and an assist for the 5-0 Eagles. Kelsey Crowley scored two goals as Emily Lyons and Casey Wyman each had a goal and an assist. Catie Cravens stopped all three shots.

Brigitte Pratt made 14 saves on 22 shots for 1-4 Mount Desert Island of Bar Harbor.

JV: Ellsworth 2-0

Presque Isle 6, Houlton 0

At Presque Isle, Angela Norsworthy scored two goals to lead Presque Isle past Houlton.

Sarah Porter had a goal and two assists for the 6-1 Wildcats and Sarah Gonsioroski added a goal and an assist. Kayla Legassie and Lindsie Lapointe each added a goal. Molly Hamel and Allisen Donovan combined to stop three of five shots.

Bethany Targonski made 21 saves on 42 shots for the 3-6-1 Hawks.

Field hockey

Piscataquis 8, Old Town 1

At Guilford, Kelsey Martell scored three goals while sister Kellie scored two more and assisted on another to lead the Pirates to the win.

Hattie Agnew tallied three goals for Piscataquis while Ashley Davis and Annie Agnew had assists. Jessica Pratt had two saves on three shots.

Jenna King scored Old Town’s goal and Heather Nye saved eight out of 16 shots.

JV: Piscataquis 9-0

John Bapst 4, Brewer 0

At Bangor, Christina Andrle scored all four goals to lead John Bapst to the win.

Megan Tilton tallied two assists and Alison Krause had one for the 2-2 Crusaders. Hillary Laferriere made 14 saves on 18 shots.

Angela Paterson had eight saves on 15 shots for 0-4 Brewer.

JV: Brewer 1-0

Boys soccer

Lee 5, Penquis 1

At Milo, Branden Crocker scored two goals to push Lee Academy past Penquis.

Tom Bird, Peter Pickering, and Young-Huan Jan each added a goal for the 2-0 Pandas. Devan Parker and Dean McDonald both had an assist. Jonathan Connick made nine saves on 11 shots.

Dylan Lyford scored on a penalty kick in the second half for 0-4 Penquis. Brian Zwicker stopped 22 of 30 shots.

Presque Isle 5, Houlton 1

At Presque Isle, Ethan Hill scored two goals and assisted another to lead Presque Isle past Houlton.

Steve Carmichael scored twice for the 5-0 Wildcats and Logan York added a goal. Parker Hovey and Gerard Desjardins both provided an assist. Adam Kingsbury and Dillon Kingsbury combined to stop four of five shots.
