Course offered for women Outdoor Adventure Weekend in Princeton set Sept. 8-10

Women interested in honing their outdoor skills or learning more about outdoor activities are invited to attend a Women’s Outdoor Adventure Weekend at the Greenland Point Center in Princeton from Sept. 8-10.

The program will give women the chance to canoe and kayak on Long Lake, fish and swim, take target practice and try some trap shooting, and learn more about archery.

Registration begins at 4 p.m. on Sept. 8. The cost is $200, which includes five meals and lodging. Participants must bring bedding or a sleeping bag, extra clothing, bathing suit and a jacket.

PCCA holding 29th gun show

The Penobscot County Conservation Association will present its 29th annual Bangor Gun Show at the Bangor Auditorium on Sept. 9-10.

Proceeds from the show are used by the PCCA to support scholarships for wildlife conservation students at the University of Maine and Unity College.

The PCCA also supports Maine hunter education, marksmanship training programs, and is a major contributor to the Greenland Point Conservation School.

The show will feature new, used, antique and historical firearms, ammunition, parts, and all sorts of shooting accessories.

Admission price is $6. NRA members, law enforcement officers and military personnel pay $5. Children under 12 get in free when accompanied by an adult. Anyone joining the NRA at the show will be admitted for free.

Bucksport club holds open house

The Bucks Mills Rod & Gun Club in Bucksport will hold an open house today from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m.

The event will feature plenty of displays, including antique firearms and ammunition, fly fishing, fly tying, trapping techniques and turkey calling.

There will also be information available about the club’s firearms and archery ranges, hunter safety programs, the annual fishing derby, club library and charities that the club supports.

Kids can take advantage of the BB gun shoot, archery shoot and a casting contest.

Bean-hole beans with all the fixings will be served for just $6, and door prizes and raffles will be held.

Admission is free. The club is located at 359 Bucks Mills Road in Bucksport.
