Bangor nightclub makes effort to reduce noise

BANGOR – Though noise from patrons outside continues to be an occasional problem, efforts by Club Gemini owners Matt and Pat Brann to dampen the boom-boom-boom of the bass that once kept neighbors awake into the wee hours were deemed a success during a status report Tuesday for members of the City Council’s government operations committee.

Representatives of the nearby Franklin Place condominium complex and the Court Street Quality of Life Committee applauded the steps that the twin brothers have taken to mitigate noise complaints.

During an open house in March, the Branns showed off new soundproofing technology developed by Audio Alloy, a Michigan company, called Green Glue. Used between layers of standard building materials, the substance uses polymer chemistry to isolate sound and control vibration from amplification equipment such as subwoofers, which some believed were responsible for the booming bass neighbors had complained about.
