Shiretowners cruise past Knights

HOULTON – Freshman righthanders Nikki Eastman and Lainey Herring combined on a two-hitter and Kristen Graham supplied the only offense seventh-seeded Houlton needed with a two-run single in the second inning as the Shiretowners blanked No. 10 Narraguagus 9-0 in a Class C preliminary softball game Tuesday.

Eastman struck out 12 and walked two while allowing two hits over five innings. Herring struck out three and walked three in two innings of hitless relief.

Graham and Sarah Harbison had two singles each for the winners, who capitalized on 11 walks and three errors.

Alicia Tenney and Amanda Ostberg each singled for No. 10 Narraguagus of Harrington.

Perry hit two singles and knocked in two runs for Calais and Kayla Beaton hit an RBI single. Courtney Ayers singled and scored two runs and Courtney Hill singled and scored.

Andrea M. Cyr, Beth Girard, Sarah Schlicher, and Nicole Lugdon each singled for Madawaska.

Sabrina Cote and Tania Morales both singled to knock in a run for Dexter.

Chelsea Robbins had a double and three singles with two RBIs for the Eagles and Robin Rioux added two singles.

At Jonesport, Jennie Durkee hit a three-run double in the second inning to help lead No. 8 Jonesport-Beals past No. 9 Wisdom of St. Agatha.

Rachel Church hit an RBI single for the Royalettes and Kristi Smith singled. Brittany Alley recorded nine strikeouts.

Nicole St. Pierre doubled and had nine strikeouts for the Pioneers. Kayla Daigle singled and scored a run and Siliva LaBrie added a single.

GHCA’s Emma Boutilier hit a two-run single. Amanda Livezey, Jessica Jago and Chelsea Lord each doubled.

Meryl Shaw added two singles and two RBI for the winners.

Brooke Smallwood tripled and singled and Lindsay Albert had two singles and drove in two runs for the Cougars of Stacyville.

Ashley Gott had three singles and two RBIs for the Broncos. Eva Shannon doubled and singled to drive in a run and Hannah Growe singled twice and scored twice.

Katye Mayo hit a two-run home run and a single for Lawrence and Kiera Walsh singled and scored a run.

O’Jala finished with two single and Hunt doubled. Brittany Barber, Erin Sweeney and Kayla Winchenbach each singled for the Panthers.

Devan Richard, Danielle Richard and Abby Perkins tallied a single apiece for the Crusaders.

Sophomore right-hander Ashley Kelley allowed just two runs on three hits and three walks while striking out 14 for the Hawks.

Mycah Cyr and Campbell each singled twice for Hermon and Cassie White hit a double.

Kristen Masessa hit an RBI single for the Mustangs as Miranda Grotton and Cheryl Stevens singled.
