Moulton super in street opener Three-race, 50-lap series opens

HERMON – Speedway 95’s super street division dropped the flag on the 2006 season with the first of three 50-lap summer series races on Sunday.

Steve Moulton of Glenburn took the pole position in the heat race and earned the win, his second straight this season, by holding off the rest of the field led by runner-up Joey Doyon of Winterport and third-place finisher Greg Pung of Franklin. Joe Legere of Milford was fourth and Dean Smart of Bradley was fifth.

Wiscasset Raceway

A three-wide battle to the checkered flag saw Mike Moody of Bath edge Lisbon Falls’ Dave Brannon and Maurice Young of Chelsea to win the Strictly Street 20-lap feature. Cushing’s Steve Peirpont finished fourth and Chuck Colby of Newcastle was fifth.

Oxford Plains Speedway

Due to rain, racing action was cancelled Saturday and the Strictly Stock 100 main event has been postponed to Saturday, May 27. The Weekly Series returns next Saturday headlined by the 100-lap Limited Sportsman feature.
