APPLETON – Funeral services with military honors for Spc. Joshua Humble, the local man killed by a roadside bomb in Iraq last Sunday, will be conducted on Tuesday, March 7, in Belfast.

The public is welcome to attend.

The funeral will be held at the Crabiel-Riposta Funeral Home at 182 Waldo Ave.

Public viewing hours will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m.

Military honors will be conducted at 7 p.m. by U.S. Army honor guards from Maine and Fort Drum, N.Y., where the fallen soldier was stationed. Interment will be in the spring.

Humble, 21, died Sunday, Feb. 26, when an improvised explosive device exploded near his vehicle while he was on patrol in Baghdad. A second soldier, Spc. Clay Farr, 21, of Bakersfield, Calif., died in the same explosion.

Humble, whose mother lives in Appleton, attended grammar school in Warren and was a student at Camden Hills High School in Rockport from 1999 to 2002. He enlisted in the Army in January 2004 and deployed to Iraq in August.

Humble and Farr were scouts with the 1st Squadron, 71st Cavalry Regiment of the U.S. Army’s 10th Mountain Division, which is headquartered at Fort Drum.
