I watched the governor’s State of the State address. Gov. Baldacci deserves credit for his hard work over the last three years.

When he entered office, we were already running a large budget deficit, but the governor stuck to his campaign pledge, he did not raise taxes. In fact, Gov. Baldacci enacted true property tax reform, which will help fishermen maintain their coastal land and help working families.

Maine has added more than 13,000 new jobs and the governor has worked with businesses, advocating for new job oppor-tunities in Maine.

The governor’s detractors never propose any novel ideas, or potential new directions. They merely attack the governor’s calls for bipartisanship and compromise. I am happy with the direction Maine is going. Gov. Baldacci has my support.
