Native American law

I have been trying for the past year to retain a lawyer in Aroostook County and I contacted the Maine State Bar Association for a referral but they informed me that there wasn’t any lawyer available to take my case. It’s hard to understand why this is.

Native American tribes in Maine come under federal jurisdiction so federal law applies in all reservations. The University of Maine School of Law should provide more curriculum in Native American law so that future lawyers in Maine would be more knowledgeable in federal and American Indian law.

This puts me in a very precarious situation where I cannot file a lawsuit against one of the Maine tribes because of this dilemma. If anyone can make a referral for a lawyer to consult with, please, let me know.
