Our own time zone

Instead of comparing what time the sun rises and sets in Yuma, Ariz., and Augusta, Maine, V. Kelly Bellis, in his op-ed, “Atlantic Time? Universal Time?” (BDN, May 7-8), should have used only cities in our own time zone.

Had he done so, he would have found out that indeed, people who live in South Bend, Ind., or Ironwood, Mich., for example, do experience at least an hour more of daylight in the evening than we do in Maine.

Let us remember that our Eastern time zone extends almost to Chicago.
