Holmes leads Bulldogs past Royals

MACHIAS – Christiannah Holmes scored 12 points and had 14 rebounds to lead Machias past Jonesport-Beals 40-35 in girls basketball action Wednesday.

Beryl Lipton had eight points, nine rebounds, and four steals for Machias.

Kristi Smith scored nine points for Jonesport-Beals.

At Brewer, Katie Quimby scored 22 points as Brewer pulled away from John Bapst of Bangor.

Quimby had a pair of 3-pointers and made all six of her free throws for the Witches. Anna Corey grabbed 10 rebounds for Brewer.

Katie Andrle scored 17 points for John Bapst, 11 in the second half.

At Alfond Arena, Orono, Jacob Roeder had a hattrick with all three goals to lead Orono to the win.

Tony Raymond had two assists for 4-1-1 Orono as Dan Ohno and Sean Babin each had an assist. Jared Bussell stopped 12 of 13 shots.

Derek Smith scored on a Dustin Colbry assist at 8:34 into the second period for 2-2 Foxcroft Academy. Jon Catell made 33 saves on 36 shots.

Lewiston 3, Brewer 2

At The Colisee in Lewiston, Joe Gauthier scored two first period goals to help Lewiston to the victory.

Danny Cloutier added a goal for 5-0 Lewiston. Adam Wilding, Kyle Beaulieu, and Nate Gruz each had an assist as Nick Langlais stopped 20 of 22 shots.

Zach Wilson and Matt Grimes each scored a goal for 3-1 Brewer. Ben Caldwell had an assist and Aaron Saunders made 19 saves on 22 shots.
