Free barbecue planned for Eddington residents

EDDINGTON – A local resident who wants to create fellowship between town residents is hosting anonymously a free Western-style barbecue on Aug. 22.

The barbecue will include games for children, including baseball or softball, and will be held at the town municipal building.

“It will be a chance for the community to get together, and there is no cost to the town,” Town Manager Russell Smith said Tuesday. “He’d just like the community to come out and meet.”

The affair will be catered, and to make things run smoothly, a head count is needed.

“We’d like people to call,” Smith said. “We don’t care how many come [to the barbecue] – we just want to make sure we have enough.”

People can stop by the municipal building to sign up or call 843-5233.
