FORT KENT – Three service members from Aroostook County have received care packages through a project initiated by University of Maine at Fort Kent student Sen. Lloyd Pulk.
Nicholas Quint of Hodgdon and Michael Cyr and Chad Morneault, both of St. Agatha, were called into active duty in December 2003. All three are members of the 391st MP Battalion.
The care packages included a campus memento, items donated by the university’s Newman Club, and comfort and personal hygiene items purchased by the student governing body. Pulk, an Air Force veteran, decided to spearhead an effort to send the care packages after learning last year that Quint would be deployed.
