Alton
Alton will hold its annual town meeting at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 27, at the Municipal Building. Voters will be asked to appropriate $22,900 from property taxes for firetruck payment and $5,000 from surplus for landfill legal fees.
Voters also will be asked to appropriate $8,000 from surplus for a land-use ordinance grant.
With the budget as planned, taxes are not expected to change from last year for the town’s portion of costs.
The registrar of voters will be at the municipal building at 9:30 a.m. to register new voters before the meeting.
Lowell
The annual town meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m. Monday, March 22, at the Escutarsis Grange Hall.
Voting will be held from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the town office.
The following are seeking re-election to the Board of Selectmen: Fern Cummings, Ivan Wakefield and Gordon Champion Sr.
Michael Garfield is seeking re-election to the planning board. Cheryl Parziale has shown interest as a write-in candidate for the planning board position previously held by Gwen Brown.
Town sexton Gordon Champion Jr. is being challenged by Percy McKenney.
