Piscataquis panel welcomes 2 members

DOVER-FOXCROFT – Robert Pride and Merlene Sanborn have joined the Piscataquis County committee of the Maine Community Foundation.

Pride is a Foxcroft Academy graduate and has a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Babson College. He worked for Pride Manufacturing Co. for more than 16 years.

Sanborn, a graduate of Penquis Valley High School, the University of Maine and the University of Maine at Machias, is director of the Penquis Higher Education Center in Dover-Foxcroft.

The Piscataquis County committee is one of nine county committees working with the Maine Community Foundation to review grant proposals for local projects and assist in building charitable funds to benefit their communities.

Other members of the committee are Stephanie Bunker, Laura Reed, Gail D’Agostino, Doug Smith, and Caroline Swett of Dover-Foxcroft; Alan Bray of Sangerville; Theresa Mudgett of Milo; Benny Lumbra of Sebec; Luke Muzzy of Greenville; and Van Wentworth of Monson.

A statewide organization with offices in Ellsworth and Portland, the Maine Community Foundation awarded nearly $9 million in grants and scholarships in 2002. This year, the foundation celebrated 20 years of strengthening Maine communities.
