The planners for the 65th National Folk Festival in Bangor have done a magnificent job of lining up excellent, diversified musical talent that should please all music lovers. I thought last year’s extravaganza was just that, but I believe this year will top it.
It will be a real challenge for the talent committee to continue their excellent offerings next year. I suggest they start with a group called Bering Strait. They are a group of classically trained musicians from Russia who have taken American bluegrass and country to heart. They offer both traditional Russian and American folk music, and it would be a real coup if they could be signed.
In the meantime, I look forward to three days of enjoyment in Bangor on Aug. 22, 23 and 24.
