Brown, Pietras lift Lynx to win over Minutemen

LINCOLN – Kasse Brown’s double in the bottom of the sixth plated Shannon Pietras, lifting the Mattanawcook softball team to a 9-8 victory over Stearns Wednesday in high school action.

Pietras hit a two-run single earlier in the inning and finished with three singles overall. Brown added another double and Arikka Knights hit three singles for Mattanawcook.

Jordan Legassey smacked a three-run homer in the third that tied the game for the Minutemen of Millinocket. Leslie Osborne doubled and singled, and Dayna Somers singled twice.

At Old Town, Megan McCrum smacked three doubles and tallied three RBIs as the Rams picked up their 11th win.

Steph Chase hit three singles and added an RBI for Bangor. Kate Turner pitched in with a two-run double. Kelly White fanned seven in six innings of relief.

Jen Higgins and Alicia Day each hit an RBI single for the Indians.

At Pittsfield, Kate Ross singled to center to knock in two runs including the winning run in Ashley Bryant to give Belfast the come-from-behind win.

Morgan Crandall had a two-run homer in the seventh and a single for Belfast and Nicole Hubbard hit a home run and a double with a RBI. Kate Ross tripled and singled with three RBIs and Lauren Overlock had two singles.

Megan Ferlund hit a three-run and two-run homer for Maine Central Institute and Autumn Hendricks had a RBI single.

Searsport 3, Penquis 2

At Searsport, the Vikings rallied for three runs in the sixth inning to edge the Patriots of Milo.

Lindsey Seekins led off with a single, followed by a single by Megan Brassbridge. Tara Lee Webster and Theresa Cameron notched back-to-back RBI singles, and Sheila Wilbur knocked in the winning run with a sacrifice hit. Webster allowed just three hits with seven strikeouts and one walk.

Erika Morrill, Ashlei McMahon and Michelle Mulherin had a double apiece for Penquis.

At Guilford, Shauna Smith tossed a two-hitter, struck out 11 and walked six to lift the Red Devils past the Pirates.

Shawna Bell paced Central of Corinth with two doubles and two RBIs. Megan Jones drove in two runs on two singles. Renee Trafton, Nicole Daniel and Nicole Labbe each hit a double and a single.

Chelsi Martelle and Charley Bradford each singled for Piscataquis. Tedianne Galuski recorded two RBIs on a sacrifice fly in the sixth.

At Husson College in Bangor, the Crusaders rallied in the bottom of the seventh to earn the win.

Kim Meagher hit three singles and had an RBI for John Bapst. Jill Mitchell had a double, a single and two RBIs.

Leigh Cartwright paced the Ponies with two triples, a single and two RBIs. Carol Goggin doubled twice, singled, and knocked in two runs.

At Lee, Kristen Hersom collected three singles, two doubles and drove in three runs as the Pandas edged the Cougars.

Jessie Kuester singled, doubled and knocked in a pair for the winners.

K.C. Duffy-Stanley hit three singles and two doubles for Katahdin of Sherman Station. Brandi Violette laced two singles, a double and plated three.

At Guilford, Josh Patterson knocked in Dan Macomber with a single to give the Pirates the win.

Macomber had doubled in the inning, and he singled earlier in the game. Joe Jardine notched two singles and two RBIs, and Mike Burnett laced an RBI double.

Mike Julian slammed a solo homer to lead the Red Devils of Corinth. Tom Palmer tied the game in the top of the seventh with an RBI single, and James Gray had two singles with an RBI.

At Lee, Gerry Worster allowed no earned runs and only three hits while striking out three and walking one to lift the Pandas.

Lee’s Nate Dow had two doubles and a single with three RBIs for the Pandas and Jeremy Ham hit two singles with two RBIs. Hyun sung Ro and Andrew Stevens each had two singles.

Gabe Hrynick hit an RBI single for the Cougars of Sherman Station. Jordan Qualey and Cam Cunningham each singled.

At Thorndike, Joe Clark scored the game-winning run in the seventh inning on a Mount View error to give Lincoln Academy the upset win.

Ben Buckland hit a pair of singles for the Eagles of Newcastle and Patrick Howell and Brent Rainey each doubled.

Kenton Spaulding hit a three-run home run in the third inning for the Mustangs and Marc McCorrison had three singles.

At Lincoln, Adam Qualey doubled, singled and plated three runs as the Minutemen avenged an earlier loss to the rival Lynx.

Ryan Bouchard racked up two singles, a double and an RBI for Stearns of Millinocket. Craig Cullen hit a double and a single and knocked in a pair. Anthony Arsenault laced an RBI double and added another double, and Matt Leino had two singles.

Tyler Libbey led the Lynx with two singles and an RBI and Wayne Berry doubled.

At Old Town, Tony DeRosa threw a two-hitter with five strikeouts and three walks as the Rams shut down the Indians.

Bangor’s Nate Hall singled and hit a three-run double in the seventh inning. Andy Treadwell slammed a solo homer in the sixth, Brian Hackett singled twice with one RBI and Nick Larochelle chipped in with two singles.

Ryan Brown fanned 12 and walked four in the loss. Mike Russell doubled for Old Town and Andy Pease hit a single.
