Belfast authorities seek help in finding woman

BELFAST – City police sought the public’s help Tuesday in finding a local woman who has been missing for at least three days.

Police Chief Allen Weaver said authorities have been unable to locate Caroline Brown, 54, of Cedar Street. Weaver described Brown as a black woman 4 feet 10 inches tall, weighing 126 pounds, with brown eyes and black hair. She wears eyeglasses.

Friends contacted police Saturday when they were unable to reach Brown by telephone. Weaver said officers went to her apartment at 4 p.m., but no one responded.

The officers said Brown’s apartment lights were on.

Weaver said the property manager was contacted and opened the locked apartment for Officers Michael Rolerson and Ken Fitzjurls.

Weaver said Tuesday that nothing inside the apartment appeared disturbed.

“Her pocketbook and belongings were untouched. It appears she left without her coat, her handbag or her medication.”

Weaver said Brown has a daughter in Kentucky, but police have been unable to find her. He said police know a bus ticket from Bangor to Kentucky had been bought, but police said they were unsure who bought the ticket.
