Jeffrey C. McBurnie of Holden has been appointed technical services manager for Soil Preparation Inc., a Plymouth-based advanced alkaline stabilization and composting facility. Before starting his position with SPI, McBurnie served as chief operator and laboratory director for the Brewer Water District and as a training and special projects specialist for the Brunswick-based Maine Rural Water Association. McBurnie, a licensed professional engineer and Class IV water system operator, graduated from the University of Maine in 1982 and was an assistant professor in the University of Maine’s bioresource engineering department. He earned a master’s degree in agricultural engineering from Texas A&M University, College Station, Texas.

John B. Gooch of Machias, a member of the special assets department at Bangor Savings Bank in Bangor, has been promoted to branch assistant of the Jonesport bank branch. Gooch has an extensive financial background, having worked at Bar Harbor Banking & Trust for almost 10 years as collection-real estate manager. He joined Bangor Savings in January 2000 as senior collector. Gooch holds a bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of Maine and is a graduate of the New England School of Banking at Williams College, Williamstown, Mass.

Robin Carleton of Warren, formerly of Quinn Insurance, has joined the Camden-based Allen Agency insurance firm as a personal lines agent working out of the Thomaston office. Carleton brings with her 13 years of insurance experience from the Thomaston area. She is a licensed insurance agent and surplus lines broker.

Hammond Lumber Co. has made two management changes since acquiring the Wickes Lumber facility in Bangor. The Bangor store is now managed by Les Witham, who has been with Hammond Lumber since 1974 and has managed the Farmington store since 1990. The Farmington store will now be managed by Steven “Al” Feather, who has spent the last five of his 19 years with Hammond Lumber managing the store in Fairfield.
