BAR HARBOR – The Public Works Department now can accept “universal” waste such as televisions and computers at its recycling facility, town officials have announced.
As required by the state, the town must remove mercury from its solid waste stream and now is able to accept fluorescent light bulbs, computers and computer screens, televisions and rechargeable batteries, according to Chip Reeves, Bar Harbor public works director.
Residents are encouraged to call Ron Graves, solid waste superintendent, at 288-4464 for delivery and handling information or for other questions.
