Two men indicted on firearms charges Woodland resident held off police with rifle

Two men who allegedly threatened with firearms were indicted Friday by the Aroostook County grand jury.

Bazil H. White, 65, of Woodland was indicted on a charge of criminal threatening, stemming from an incident that took place Oct. 6 outside his home in Woodland.

White held police at bay for approximately an hour after allegedly pointing a .308-caliber rifle equipped with a scope at his former wife when she came to pick up their grandson, of whom they had shared custody. No shots were fired at any time during the confrontation.

Brent DeWitt, 45, of Houlton was indicted on charges of reckless conduct with a firearm, criminal threatening with a dangerous weapon, and criminal operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of intoxicants.

On the night of Oct. 18, DeWitt allegedly fired several shots from a 9 mm handgun near his home on Lincoln Street and then drove to a home on Court Street where his wife was staying with a relative and threatened her, according to Houlton police.

Other indictments handed up by the grand jury were the following:

Scott D. Sherwood, 31, Fort Fairfield, operating a motor vehicle after revocation of driver’s license and operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of intoxicants.

David E. Sowers, 28, Mapleton, burglary, aggravated criminal trespassing, assault, criminal mischief and violation of conditions of release.

Donny L. Taylor, 24, Presque Isle, gross sexual assault, tampering with a witness, violation of conditions of release and violation of protection order.

Scott Pelletier, 42, St. Francis, violation of conditions of release.

Kevin Cray, 34, Presque Isle, gross sexual assault, four counts.

Jacob Kilroy, 24, Presque Isle, negotiating a worthless instrument.

Gary S. Pendexter, 33, Chapman, criminal operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of intoxicants.

David G. Bileau, 38, Norton, Mass., burglary, theft and criminal mischief.

Stephen E. Tarbox, 35, Presque Isle, assault, obstructing reporting of a crime and criminal threatening.

Winston Barker, 24, Mars Hill, criminal threatening, reckless conduct with a dangerous weapon, and two counts of assault.

Kelly Grivois, 32, Van Buren, burglary and theft.

Lance Cormier, 20, Van Buren, burglary and theft.

Amanda Parker, 18, Van Buren, burglary and theft.

William Daniel Buckley, 18, Perham, burglary.

Lisa Gardiner, 36, Presque Isle, forgery.

Michael G. Avery, 41, Presque Isle, operating a motor vehicle after revocation of driver’s license and failure to sign a ticket.

Timothy A. Bowmaster, 32, Grand Falls, New Brunswick, aggravated assault, criminal threatening, tampering with a victim and terrorizing.

Gregory M. Jandreau, 27, Eagle Lake, forgery.

Anthony W. Cook, 26, Limestone, burglary and stealing drugs.

Stacey Cook, 25, Limestone, burglary and stealing drugs.

Jean Louis Michaud II, 24, Limestone, burglary and stealing drugs.

Brent F. Rafford, 30, Madawaska, theft by deception.

Collen Nadeau, 40, Allagash, unlawful trafficking in scheduled drugs, marijuana cultivation and criminal forfeiture.

Rodney P. Haskell, 41, Perham, possession of a firearm by a prohibited felon, hunting bear after having killed one, illegal baiting of bear, fraudulently obtaining a hunting license and unsworn falsification.

Georgia M. Grivois, 55, Grand Isle, operating a motor vehicle after revocation of driver’s license, criminal operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of intoxicants and leaving the scene of an attended motor vehicle damage accident.

Sean K. Greening, 36, Madawaska, unlawful furnishing of scheduled drugs.

Mark A. Thompson, 34, Presque Isle, eluding an officer, criminal speeding and operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of intoxicants.

Gary Whitmore, 29, Caribou, assault on an officer, aggravated criminal mischief and assault.

David L. Williams, 27, Las Vegas, Nev., possession of a firearm by a prohibited person.
