Palmyra man injured when car hits flatbed

PALMYRA – A Palmyra man was taken to Sebasticook Valley Hospital on Thursday afternoon after a traffic accident in front of his own home.

Robert Shaw, 60, of Wyman Road in Palmyra, suffered back and neck injuries when his vehicle was struck by another while he attempted to turn into his driveway. Shaw was driving a 1971 Ford flatbed truck with warning lights flashing, said Somerset County Deputy Wilfred Dodge.

Rebecca Curtis, 31, of St. Albans attempted to pass behind Shaw’s truck and misjudged where the end of the flatbed was in the dark, said Dodge. She was driving a 1997 Ford utility vehicle. She was not injured.

Sebasticook Valley Ambulance and Hartland/St. Albans Ambulance responded. No charges were filed, said Dodge.
