BANGOR – Secretary of State Dan Gwadosky was among several participants who kicked off the 2002 Vote in Honor of a Veteran program with a ceremony at the World War II Memorial at the Cole Land Transportation Museum on Wednesday morning.
The VIHV program, introduced for the 2000 election, seeks to highlight the connection between those who served their country in the armed forces and the right of everyone to vote. Voters are encouraged to request a button personalized with the name of the veteran they are honoring and wear it to the polls on Election Day, Tuesday, Nov. 5.
More than 10,000 Mainers participated in the program in 2000.
Voters may request a personalized button at www.maine.gov/sos/veterans/ or request an order form by calling 626-8406.
