Maine, Quinnipiac in 0-0 tie

HAMDEN, Conn. – Maine outshot Quinnipiac 17-12, but neither team could find the back of the net as they battled to a 0-0 double overtime tie in the mutual men’s soccer season-opener Friday.

Josh Sjostrom made six saves for the Bears while Quinnipiac received 11 stops from Conor Shilcock-Elliott.

Assistant athletic director and former Maine head soccer coach Jim Dyer filled in as the coach of the Bears for Travers Evans, who stayed home with wife Johanna awaiting the arrival of their first child.
