I would love to have beautiful, majestic Katahdin, Maine pine trees and surrounding rural landscape on our state quarter.
The original artist’s rendition was natural and perfect but the changed design is a sham. The mountain does not look like Katahdin, the trees do not depict Maine pine and the landscape and canoe are not realistic.
The U.S. Mint’s revision ruined a truly genuine picture of Maine for the world to see and feel.
It is very sad Maine people do not have the choice to vote on Brian Kent’s original design. It is difficult to understand why the Mint had to change it beyond recognition.
Congratulations, Mr. Kent, on your beautiful, authentic version. You have seen and felt the scene.
