WASHINGTON – The Moscow Water District will receive $221,622 in grant funding from the U.S. Department of Agriculture Rural Development to help pay for upgrades to the water system.
“The USDA has provided substantial, ongoing support for this project, which will ensure high water quality for residents of the Moscow area,” said U.S. Sens. Olympia Snowe and Susan Collins in a joint statement announcing the funding.
The Rural Development funds will be used to continue pump station upgrades in Moscow. A new, dual-chamber in-ground concrete reservoir to serve the system will be constructed, and the town also plans vault and piping improvements for the water district booster system. USDA has previously supported the project with a $500,000 grant and a $100,000, low-interest loan.
