Garland teen arrested after chase results in accident

CORINNA – A 17-year-old Garland juvenile was arrested Saturday after a high-speed chase that ended when the juvenile lost control of the vehicle and it rolled over in Corinna.

Dexter Officer Kevin Wintle first attempted to stop the juvenile for speeding on Spring Street. When Wintle activated the lights and siren on his cruiser, the juvenile took off in his vehicle and led Wintle on a chase with speeds of up to 73 miles per hour, according to Wintle.

Wintle said the juvenile lost control of his vehicle on the Phinney Road and it rolled over. The juvenile received a leg injury and was taken to the Sebasticook Valley Hospital in Pittsfield, according to Wintle. The sport utility vehicle the juvenile was driving was demolished.

Inside the vehicle, police found drug paraphernalia, according to Cpl. Alan Grinnell, who assisted Wintle at the accident scene.

The juvenile is facing charges of criminal speeding, eluding a police officer and operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of intoxicants.
