Life-saving technology

I certainly appreciate and am grateful that cures are being developed to help women and men deal with cancers and other diseases. But as a sister to someone who suffers from kidney failure, I am angered that no one seems to place importance on finding a way to keep those people alive who desperately need an organ.

My brother suffers from kidney disease. Fifteen years ago he was lucky enough to be a recipient of a kidney which worked. The organ came from a donor who was in a car accident. Now his kidney has again failed. It has taken the kidney and transplant offices in Maine months to even get his paperwork correct and even then they didn’t put him on a list for a donated organ. Not that being on the list guarantees anyone anything, considering the waiting list.

It is hard for me to understand this argument against cloning organs for use to save peoples lives. The technology is there now and we need to use it. We must support this type of medical advancement in order to save lives. People are dying every day because of the lack of organ donation.
