Passenger slightly hurt in Ellsworth car crash

ELLSWORTH – A woman was treated for minor injuries Friday afternoon at a local hospital after the car she was riding in was hit on Main Street, according to police.

Gretchen Nelson, 44, whose hometown police did not know, was a passenger in an eastbound 1991Ford when it turned in front of another car at 3:30 p.m., Ellsworth police Officer Bryan Dow said.

Sherri Rosean, 58, was driving the car and turned in front of a westbound 1995 Ford driven by Elizabeth Haynes, 30, of Ellsworth as she attempted to enter the driveway of Rosborough Insurance, Dow said.

Christopher Haynes, an 8-year-old passenger in the 1995 Ford, was treated for a bruise on his head but was not taken to the hospital, according to Dow. Nelson was treated at Maine Coast Memorial Hospital and then released, a hospital supervisor said.

Dow said all passengers are believed to have been wearing their seat belts during the accident.

The 1991 Ford had $1,500 in damage and the 1995 Ford $500, Dow said.
