ROCKLAND – U.S. Rep. Tom Allen has nominated 31 Maine men and women for appointment to the Army, Navy, Air Force and Merchant Marine academies.

Of the 31, John R. Bonney of Rockland was nominated to the U.S. Air Force Academy at Boulder, Colo., and Amy C. Lees of Camden was nominated to the U.S. Naval Academy at Annapolis, Md.

Bonney, 18, is a senior at Rockland District High School and the son of Grace Marsh and Gene Bonney of Rockland.

Lees, 17, is a senior at Camden Hills Regional High School and the daughter of Patricia McDonald and George Lees of Camden.
