Midcoast men, women charged in drug cases

TENANTS HARBOR – A man, his wife and another woman were charged with trafficking in heroin Friday after officers searched the couple’s Tenants Harbor home.

Two Waldoboro men also were arrested Tuesday on the same charge, as part of the same investigation.

Chief Deputy Todd Butler of the Knox County Sheriff’s Department said officers with the Sheriff’s Department, Rockland police and the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Department obtained a search warrant for the home of Lyle and Brandi Morris in Tenants Harbor after an investigation.

At the Morris residence, officers seized about 280 bags of heroin, Butler said, which amounted to a street value of about $7,000. Also seized was a hypodermic apparatus, he said.

Lyle Morris, 27, and Brandi Morris, 28, were arrested, as was Tiffanee Fraughton, 28, of Rockland. Along with the trafficking charge, the three also were charged with conspiracy to traffic in a Schedule W drug. Lyle Morris also was charged with violating the conditions of bail on an earlier drug-related arrest.

In Waldoboro, the residences of Sanford Winchenbach and Todd Morales were searched Tuesday night. Officers seized heroin, marijuana, prescription drugs, drug paraphernalia, a shotgun and cash.

Winchenbach, 39, was arrested and charged with trafficking in heroin, conspiracy to traffic in heroin and violation of probation. Morales, 29, was arrested and charged with trafficking in heroin and conspiracy to traffic in heroin.
