CALAIS – The American Cancer Society’s Reach to Recovery program offers women from the Calais area an opportunity for discussion by matching volunteer visitors who have experienced breast cancer with women dealing with the disease.
The idea behind the program is that talking about the experience with someone who has been there not only helps answer questions, but also provides a role model for recovery.
A training class for breast cancer survivors who are interested in becoming Reach to Recovery visitors will be held at Calais Regional Hospital from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 3. Lunch will be provided.
To learn more about the program or to sign up for the training, contact Debbie Seybold at the American Cancer Society, (800) 464-3102, Ext. 3102, or Doug Dieckmann at 532-5622.
