Missing Clair Wood

It saddens me that Clair Wood’s Science Forum ended on Oct. 4, not with a bang, but with a whimper. I was one of the aficionados of this informative column for the past several years. Wood usually took his readers to the frontiers of knowledge by explaining elegantly the latest developments in modern science and technology in an easily readable nontechnical language.

We are indeed grateful to this talented expository writer for his contributions in the Bangor Daily News and he will be sorely missed. In an era when the counter-cultural revolt against the cortex runs rampant among the intelligentsia, creating barricades against science and promoting pseudoscience and postmodern gibberish, we need more writers like Clair Wood to tell the lay public as to what exactly is going on in the realm of modern science.
