Bangor woman selected to attend D.C. event

WASHINGTON – Carol Russell, operations controller for Osram Sylvania’s Bangor plant, has been selected to represent the Maine facility at the lighting of the Thomas Jefferson Memorial celebration in the nation’s capital on Wednesday.

Russell has been an employee with the company for 14 years.

Osram Sylvania, based in Danvers, Mass., donated more than $800,000 in state-of-the-art, energy-efficient lighting technology and services to the memorial project. The Bangor Osram Sylvania facility produced the lamp assembly lead-in wiring technology for Metalarc HID lamps that are being used to light the memorial.

“Osram Sylvania’s donation to the Jefferson Memorial project will enhance the wonderful architecture of the building and will allow the inscribed words of Jefferson to be seen more clearly,” said Russell.
