Bankruptcy Court OKs EnvisioNet credit line

BANGOR – Internet support company EnvisioNet was able to start writing checks to cover expenses Thursday after a U.S. Bankruptcy Court judge approved a $5.6 million revolving line of credit.

The credit line was one of two actions expected in court regarding financing for the money-strapped company based in Augusta and Orono. The other was approval of a $638,000 loan by a group of investors.

But creditors wanting to ensure that they will be paid delayed for a second day approval of the investors’ loans. EnvisioNet and attorneys representing the creditors will meet again today in Bankruptcy Court in Portland.

KeyBank allowed the line of credit to go through even though one of the contingencies to get the money was that EnvisioNet secure private funds from investors, said KeyBank attorney David Hirshon. Because that funding deal is almost completed, KeyBank acquiesced and allowed the credit line.

Last week, EnvisioNet filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection, stating in court documents that it has $25.6 million in debts and $15 million in assets. Chapter 11 affords the company time to reorganize or seek a merger.

During bankruptcy protection, the court must approve all monetary transactions, whether they are receivables, expenditures or financing plans.

Hirshon said KeyBank is hoping EnvisioNet regroups and becomes a viable company.

“Basically everything’s in place,” Hirshon said. “Now we’ll see if EnvisioNet can fulfill its business plan.”

Anthony Citrano, a spokesman for EnvisioNet, said the delay in processing the investors’ financing plan is a matter of legal work.
