Multivehicle crash kills one on Maine Turnpike

PORTLAND – At least one person was killed Monday morning in a multivehicle accident on the Maine Turnpike in Portland, state police said.

A Maine Turnpike dispatcher said the accident involving three or four vehicles occurred at 9:50 a.m. between Exits 6 and 6-A. One vehicle caught fire and fire crews from Saco, Scarborough and South Portland were called to help.

The northbound lanes were closed for about 40 minutes.
