HOLDEN – The proposed municipal budget, which so far has been reviewed by selectmen and budget committee members, will be the topic of a public hearing at 6 p.m. Monday at the municipal building.

During the session, Town Manager Larry Varisco said Friday, town officials will present a $1,566,896 proposal, up about $50,000 from the current budget.

Given the town’s projected share of SAD 63’s proposed education budget plan, expected to increase from the current $1,532,342 to $1,624,282, local officials anticipate an estimated 50-cent increase in the town’s tax rate, which now stands at $16.80 per $1,000 in property valuation.

Up for grabs in local elections, scheduled for June 12, are the expiring Board of Selectmen positions now held by Michael Legasse and Joel Dearborn, and the SAD 63 board of directors’ seats now held by Doug Bosse, Gary Duplisea and Barbara Tennent.

Dearborn and Legasse are seeking re-election to their respective three-year positions.
