About 100 Ripley voters decide selectmen’s race

RIPLEY – At the annual town meeting on Saturday, residents returned Roger Dracek, Michael Farrar and Debbie Nye to the Board of Selectmen.

But the race for second selectman, won by Farrar, was tight. For the second consecutive year, Everett Hibbard lost his bid to oust Farrar by a single vote.

In other elections, Vernal Sinclair was re-elected town clerk and tax collector, and Dorothy Hutchins was elected treasurer. Sharon Hopkins was elected to the SAD 46 board of directors. About 100 people attended the meeting, during which residents voted to take $30,000 out of capital reserve to help pay for the expected 16 percent increase in school costs this year.
