Addison in the dark

I would like to express my concerns regarding the power outage this past week. Again many of the citizens of Addison are not happy with the response from Bangor Hydro to restore service. More than half the town remained in the dark longer than most other areas. Some residents lost power for more than 2 1/2 days.

A similar outage occurred during the ice storm of 1998. That time some residents were without lights, heat and water for nine days. That was far too long considering the fact that Bangor Hydro had to do little more than reset circuit breakers to restore power in much of the town.

It appears we are very low on the priority list for Bangor Hydro. Sections of Addison are consistently among the last areas to have service restored after any type of outage. Bangor Hydro needs to rethink its emergency operations and be willing to commit the resources that are necessary to restore service in a more timely manner.

Being without power at this time of year is not just an inconvenience but a serious matter.
