Bangor’s Jesse Speirs recently tied for first place in a junior golf tournament at Myrtle Beach, S.C.

Speirs, 13, fired a six-under-par 66 in the first round of the George Holiday Memorial Classic played on the Myrtle Beach National Golf Course, Nov. 24-25.

Speirs was one of only six golfers with sub-par rounds and earned him a first place tie for overall honors.

Five age groups competed in the event: 11-under, 12-13, 14, 15-16, 17-18.

The second round of the tournament was rained out.
