Hospital to provide 15 free mammograms

DOVER-FOXCROFT – Mayo Regional Hospital’s Imaging Center for Women and Spectrum Radiology will provide free mammogram screenings during October, National Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Fifteen free mammograms will be given Monday, Oct. 23, to women over 35 who are without health insurance and never have had a mammogram. Recipients will be referred by area physicians and Penquis CAP Health Services. Anyone needing a mammogram should contact their physician to set up an appointment.

Throughout October, Mayo’s radiology department will have an educational display in the hospital lobby with information and giveaways on breast cancer awareness. As part of that effort, the department will sponsor drawings for a free mammogram and a free breast examination.

Mayo offers mammography services Monday through Friday, and has added occasional Saturday hours to meet demand. In addition, hours have been extended from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., rather than 3 p.m.
