Passamaquoddys get federal housing grant

INDIAN TOWNSHIP — The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development has awarded the Passamaquoddy Tribe more than $700,000 in housing aid.

U.S. Rep. John Baldacci announced the aid Monday.

The grant will be used for housing improvements.

It was issued through HUD’s Indian housing block grant program, which is authorized under the Native American Housing and Self-Determination Act.
