Woman trapped between vehicles

A Brewer woman was sent to the hospital shortly before noon Sunday after she was trapped between the rear of her car and a van pulling into a pump at a gasoline station on Wilson Street.

Joeen Clark, 40, was treated at Eastern Maine Medical Center and released. Police blamed the accident on slush and ice piled near a gasoline island at Hamel Fuels, 611 Wilson St.

Brewer police Sgt. David Clewley said Clark apparently was filling a container with gasoline near the rear bumper of her car when a van driven by Scott Malone, 39, of Ellsworth pulled into the same refueling area. The van was unable to stop in the ice and slush, rolling forward and trapping Clark on her upper leg.

Neither vehicle was damaged. No citations were issued. —-

Bangor police cited high snowbanks as a cause of a collision at the intersection of Garland and Palm streets at 2:30 p.m. Sunday that damaged both vehicles involved and left a pregnant woman shaken but unharmed.

According to Patrolman Shawn Green, Tracy Jewers, 26, of Bangor, who is four months pregnant, was treated at the scene but did not require hospitalization. The accident occurred when a 1991 Buick sedan driven by Justin Thomas, 17, of Bangor inched around the corner of Palm Street onto Garland. The driver apparently did not see Jewers, who was traveling south on Garland Street. Two corner sections of the cars collided. Thomas’ car had about $2,000 in damage and Jewers’ car had about $1,500 in damage, police said. —-

Police were called to Eastern Maine Medical Center early Saturday when a man arrived with a stab wound.

Donald Lester, 45, of Bangor and his girlfriend told authorities they were leaving Barnaby’s Restaurant and Lounge at the Ramada Inn, 357 Odlin Road, Bangor shortly after 1 a.m. Saturday when Lester felt a stinging sensation and looked down to see his pants ripped and his leg bleeding profusely. He said the hallway outside the lounge was crowded when the incident occurred.

Lester was released from EMMC after treatment. The matter remains under investigation.
