UMFK to hold forum on electric restructuring

FORT KENT — The University of Maine at Fort Kent will host a public forum at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 8, in UMFK’s Nowland Hall, to help educate consumers on electric choice as Mainers prepare for the deregulation of the state’s electric utility industry next month.

Representatives from the state Public Advocate’s Office, Public Utilities Commission, Maine Public Service Co., competitive energy suppliers, and the Northern Maine Independent System Administrator board (NMISA) will be there. Individuals on hand at the forum will include: Jimmy Dean, chairman of the NMISA board; Ken Bletcher, CEO of NMISA; Fred Bustard, vice president for power delivery at Maine Public Service Co.; and Cal Deschene, director of Energy Atlantic.

The open forum will follow a regularly scheduled meeting of the NMISA board. Sponsored by the UMFK office of corporate relations, the forum is free and open to the public.
