Houlton’s press, O’Connell key

HOULTON – The Shiretowners’ full-court press in the fourth quarter and their 6-for-7 effort at the foul line helped them pull away from Madawaska and win 61-48 Saturday in high school basketball action.

Junior forward Jay O’Connell hit four 3-pointers on the way to 16 points, five rebounds, and five assists to pace Houlton. Lucas McGary had 14 points, 10 boards, and three steals, and Frank Distefano had 13 points and 10 rebounds.

Rusty Nadeau scored 20 points and Derrick Cooper added 15 for the Owls.
