None hurt in Warren crash; 3rd vehicle flees

WARREN — A two-vehicle crash on Route 1 Thursday morning caused more than $10,000 in damage, but no people were hurt, according to a Knox County Sheriff’s Department report.

A third vehicle, which apparently was a contributing factor in the accident, fled the area, according to the report filed by Deputy Lawrence Hesseltine.

The fleeing vehicle was a red pickup truck, according to Chief Deputy Todd Butler on Thursday.

Carol Brazier, 51, of Waldoboro was traveling north on Route 1 near Finntown Road in a 1994 Oldsmobile sedan when she encountered a red pickup truck which was passing a 1999 Ford truck owned by Novelty Helmets Inc. of Holly Hill, Fla., driven by Daniel S. Harter, 36, of Ormand Beach, Fla.

Brazier attempted to avoid the red pickup, lost control and drifted over the center line, striking the Ford, which was headed south. Her vehicle spun around and hit the same vehicle again.

Brazier’s car sustained $3,500 in damage and the Ford pickup, $7,000, in the 7:20 a.m. crash.
