PITTSFIELD — The Born to Read Program is celebrating its fifth year with a party from 1 to 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 16, in the Cianchette Conference Room, Sebasticook Valley Hospital. All 1999 Born to Read babies, parents and siblings are invited to attend.
Born to Read is a grass-roots volunteer program that delivers free beginning “libraries” to every new baby in the towns of Burnham, Corinna, Detroit, Etna, Hartland, Newport, Palmyra, Pittsfield, Plymouth and St. Albans. The “libraries,” which are collections of children’s books, are provided at no cost to recipients. They are sponsored by SAD 53, SAD 48, Sebasticook Valley Hospital and private businesses and individuals.
