Millinocket officials set for possible emergencies

MILLINOCKET — Steve Lane, the town’s Y2K contingency plan chairman, stressed Wednesday that no shelters will be opened Friday night or Saturday unless an extreme emergency occurs.

Emergency response coordinators are treating this time like any other snowstorm or ice storm, Lane stated. Residents are urged to stay in their homes unless otherwise indicated.

Should shelters be necessary, they will be at St. Martin’s Catholic Church, the VFW hall, and the American Legion hall.

Millinocket town staff will be conducting business as usual with minimal extra staffing, according to Lane.
